Did you see the Katy Perry Oprah Winfrey show appearance today? It was during a performance for Oprah’s day after the Oscars show at Kodak Theater that the PS22 kiddie choir that the children got a couple fabulous surprises. We’ve got the details and the performance video here!
They impressed at the Academy Awards with their closing performance of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, but it was the day after when the PS22 choir of youngsters returned to the stage for Oprah’s Oscar special that they received a big surprise. Surprise! It was during the performance of Katy Perry’s Firework, that Katy, dressed in an Oscar colored gown, joined them on stage!
After the touching fireworks infested performance, the kids gave Katy high fives and hugs galore. Oprah then spoke with Katy and thanked her for flying after her show in Vienna to be in Los Angeles to take the stage with the children.
Not only that but the kids got another surprise! When they return to school they will be able to take their Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet computers back with them. (Samsung is one of Oprah’s sponsors.) Lucky ducks!

While I adore Katy, her intentions were good with taking the red eye to make it it LA for this very purpose. However, it surely seemed as if Perry should have put herself on vocal rest. Katy was awful on the Oprah after the Oscars show, but she usually isn’t that good performing live. Her songs are great and I particularly like the song, “Baby You’re a Firework” but her along with so many other performers out there today (think Taylor Swift) just do not have the best vocals. The best performance of that song was Leah Michelle, aka Rachel on Glee.
