The MIA XXXO video is in support of the rapper’s third single from her third album titled /\/\/\Y/\‎ . The song was officially released on May 11th, 2010 as a digital download and on video August 11th, 2010. We’ve got the video and the lyrics here for you!

Every time a video from MIA, born Maya Arulpragasam, is set to release, controversy seems now to be what we expect from the British born rapper. And though the Hype Williams video is extremely visual, it surely isn’t as controversial as her last video Born Free.

About the Born Free video, MIA told NY Times magazine, “With our video, we were really copying ‘Telephone. Both our videos are road movies. We kill people, and they kill people. They start out in a prison, and we start out in a squat, hunting people down.” Well it was definitely a video that was highly graphic and very controversial.

While the video features M.I.A. in some generic looking head shots, it is the shot of the rapper disguised as a leopard that could possibly be read into as a political reference.

Of the single Brad Wete from Entertainment Weekly said, “This techno-tinged dance record is what we hoped for from our Sri Lankan anti-pop star. It’s an aggressive but friendly love cut dressed up with playful lyrics…It’s the fun, naughty stuff we like.”
