The Taylor Swift Mine single has been released two weeks early. And even though Swift was set to release the song on her own terms on August 16th, we get to hear it now. Despite the leak, Mine has already soared to the top of the iTunes charts, creating for an emotional Swift. She tweeted, “I landed in Japan and got 20 texts and looked at iTunes and got tears in my eyes. And so, we begin again. ” See lyrics and video here!
The Taylor Swift Mine song has been released in full due parts of the song being leaked via the web. And that seems to be just fine for Swift fans who can’t get enough of the country songstress.
Mine is the first single off of Swift’s forthcoming album Speak Now, which is set to hit store shelves on October 25th, 2010.
In a recent interview, Swift explains the meaning behind Mine and why she chose Toby Hemingway (other than the fact that she finds him attractive) to be her groom in the video. About the song’s concept she says, “It’s been sort of a recent tendency, and I think it’s because, for me, every really direct example of love that I’ve had in front of me has ended in goodbye and ended in breakups and things like that. So I think I’ve developed this pattern of running away when it comes time to fall in love and stay in a relationship. The song is sort of about finding the exception to that and finding someone who would make you believe in love and realize that it could work out, because I’m never ever going to go past hoping that love works out.”
About casting British actor Hemingway as her love interest, Taylor says “I saw ‘Feast of Love’ and just loved that movie and thought Toby was so great that I thought it would be perfect to put him in the video.” She adds, “I was doing some more research and watched another movie he was in called ‘The Covenant’. I’ve got this crazy 13 lucky thing, and he walks on screen for the first time wearing a sweatshirt with a 13 on it! That was the deciding factor. It wasn’t really up to me, it was about the number.”
