Britney Spears’ latest single is entitled “If You Seek Amy”. You can find the song on her album “Circus”. While Britney has done well so far in constructing an infallible comeback, controversy (though slight) has arrived. The popstar has been forced to rerecord “If You Seek Amy” due to some backlash about what the lyrics sound like.
Apparently some parents have complained, and radio stations have listened. The concerned moms think that the line “if you seek Amy” sounds suspiciously like “F. U. C. K. me” (say the original syllables slowly). The song has been shelved at many radio stations until Britney supplies a new version. And Britney appears to have complied. Rumor has it she is in the studio changing the lyric to “if you see Amy”, to remove any implication of inappropriate language.
Now the fans are the ones who are concerned. Some think that this change in lyric changes the meaning of the song, and they say now it doesn’t make any sense. (And I would agree with them - what if I changed the lyrics of “See You Next Tuesday” to “See You Next Wednesday”?)
