Alicia Keys’ mother has a lot to be proud about. Currently her daughter is visiting students in college who are in the performing arts program. She shares her personal life lessons and lectures on how to follow their dreams.
As a biography, given the birth name Teresa M. Augello was born on May 8th in 1950 in Detroit, Michigan so her age is 59. At the age of six she moved to Toledo, Ohio. At college age, she attended the University of Toledo for one year and then moved to attend New York University’s School of the Arts, graduating in 1971. While in the New York area, she performed in independent films, tv projects, and on stage. Terria’s father, Joseph L. Augello, is known for his roles as an actor in “Lone Ranger” and “Green Hornet”. He also was a DJ and News Director at a Radio Station called WOHO in Detroit, Michigan. On January 25, 1981 Teresa and flight attendant father, Craig Cook welcomed daughter Alicia Augello Cook in Manhattan, in New York City, New York. At the age of two, her parents separated and was raised by her mother, who was a working part-time actress and paralegal.
On September 16, Alicia Keys appeared on BET’s “106 & Park” and announced that the album is now due out in December. In addition, we now know the album’s title is called “The Element of Freedom”. The singer expresses, “The way that the songs progress are gonna take you on a natural high. I just want you to feel a sense of freedom, I want you to feel out-of-the-box, feel inspired,” adding, “You’re definitely going to be taken on a trip, I know you’re going to be shocked, you’re going to hear things that you probably didn’t think that I would sound like. It’s a journey.”
The singer also says that when deciding the title for her new album that her thoughts involved finding herself, making her own choices and signifying how to honor herself. She says that having the ability to be able to practice her rights honestly and openly is how the title of her record evolved.
At the front of the auditorium at NYU, Keys spoke with brilliance and “conviction”. She expresses that she wanted to reach out to the young people who share the love for the arts. Also, involving the audience by giving the the opportunity to ask questions.
She says of her fifth studio album, “Every song that you hear on the album has an element of freedom in it. If it’s the way that I’m singing, or the style that I’m explaining something,” adding, “For me, freedom is a big deal…I think for all of us because we’re all looking for our wings to fly, to not be held back, to be free to be who we are. So that’s another reason why I called it ‘The Element of Freedom.'”
