Have you ever wondered what the going rate for a chunk of Elvis’ hair was? Yeah, I didn’t think so, but just in case I have you wondering now, the answer is $15,000. Last weekend at an auction house in Chicago, The Kings hair was auctioned off to an anonymous buyer, who paid $18,500 for the locks after fees. Read more below.
What comes to mind when you say the word creepy? Perhaps an old haunted house, or maybe someone peering through your window with binoculars while your changing into your evening wear, oh yeah, and we must not forget clowns (especially the evil type that hide under your bed). As creepy as all of those things are, in my opinion, none of them compare to this.
There is an old adage that states “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure,” but being that it doesn’t quite fit this situation, I’ve revised it to “one dead mans hair is another mans disturbing fetish”. Although, to be honest, I just cant wait until they auction off gum chewed by Elvis Presley, because when they do, I’m going to empty my savings account to purchase it. Who knows? Perhaps it will even still have some flavor left.
Memorabilia, other than hair, out of the late Gary Pepper’s collection that was up for sale included pictures, clothing, and records. One shirt in particular sold for a whopping $52,000, in spite of the fact that according to reports it smelled like B.O!
