Country music star Toby Keith’s songwriting skills over the last 10 years are being recognized as the Nashville Songwriters Association International voted the star as Songwriter/Artist of the Decade.

The award will be presented to Keith on October 18 during an Awards Dinner at the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville.

The string of hits he has penned are too numerous to mention, but include Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue, As Good As I Once Was, Who’s Your Daddy and God Love Her.

Craig Wiseman will be honored as the Songwriter of the Decade as well. He has written several hits for artists including Kenny Chesney (Summertime and The Good Stuff), Tim McGraw (Live Like You Were Dying) and Brooks & Dunn (Believe) just to name a few. Bart Herbison, Executive Director for Nashville Songwriters Association International said:

“These awards are very special honors, not only recognizing continuous hits over the past 10 years, but because they are chosen by fellow songwriters. Craig and Toby have truly earned the respect of their fellow creators and deserve this special recognition.”

Inductees this year into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame include Mark D. Sanders, Kye Fleming and the late Tammy Wynette, who died in 1998.
