Purple Chick is an underground group of music fans (or possibly just one music fan) who remaster classic songs, mostly from the Beatles. They’ve also remastered such artists as the Beach Boys and Indigo Girls. Now, after decades of rumors of reissues of everyone’s favorite Beatles tracks, it appears that Purple Chick has done what the band’s label, EMI, has not been able to do.
Indeed, every diehard Beatles fan can now find a variety of remastered classics in multi-disc box sets from Purple Chick. The label has released updated editions, in both mono and stereo sound, of each commercially released Beatles album. In addition, every known demo, studio outtake and alternative mix can be found from Purple Chick.
The folks at Purple Chick appear to be driven by perfection. Where necessary, they have edited together various fragments of any particular song to arrive at the best version possible. And when others released a four-song set from “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”, Purple Chick remastered it’s also upgraded “Sgt. Pepper” collection, all five discs of it. It’s “White Album” collection consists of an amazing twelve discs.
The trick is finding these downloads, but they say it’s worth it. Licorice Pizza notes,
As a starting point, I downloaded With the Beatles. I’m pretty much a non-audiophile with non-audiophile-type listening devices, so I didn’t pick up on any noticeable differences. However, those in the know insist the Purple Chick recordings are far superior.
If your still looking for a great after Christmas deal, and your a Beatles fan, perhaps this is it.

It seems as though EMI has gotten off their duffs. And, are going to FINALLY remaster these. However, we have Purple Chick to thank for this. Because, not only are these gems available. They are free of charge. Purple Chick has encouraged this. Because, lets face it. No matter how good of a job anyone does on cleaning up REAL good conditon vinyls. EMI has the masters. And, any real good clean up with those. Is the bottom line. I am glad Purple Chick did this. Of course it is sad that the master tapes have been played so many times, and redone so much I think. That, the vinyls that were mastered from the younger tapes sound better. But, hey. We have great music. And, will forever.
