The single will be released as a digital download on August 17, 2009. Produced by Mark Ronson, the critically acclaimed Love and War album was released on June 1, 2009 and debuted at No. 2 on the U.K. Album chart. The album has produced two hit singles in the U.K. - lead single, Change (featuring rapper Wale) and Red, which peaked at No. 8 and No. 5 respectively.
The Daniel Merriweather Impossible lyrics and music were written by the singer-songwriter. In a recent interview with the Telegraph, the R&B-pop star talked about his early beginnings and how he was eventually drawn to music.
My dad’s a schoolteacher, a passive, thoughtful guy, and there’s a side of me that’s very inquisitive, interested in talking and discussing. At 15 I was reading A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking. But a year later I was selling drugs and getting into fights. I dropped out of high school, I was angsty and angry and broke and hanging out with a bad bunch of really cut-throat, violently dangerous people. It was so far removed from singing and writing songs, which is such a personal and emotional thing.”
He will be embarking on his first U.K. tour, with the Daniel Merriweather tour dates as follows.
