What has the world come to?!? Nine Inch Nails front man, Trent Reznor, has gotten rid of his Twitter account. See why he decided to opt out of Twitter, and now dislikes social networking sites as well as pictures and an interview with Trent here.
Reznor initially ended his Twitter usage after receiving nasty comments to his announcement of getting engaged to West Indian Girl singer, Mariqueen Maandig, but then briefly returned to announce NIN’s final tour dates.
In addition to tweeting about tour dates, and recommending new artists, Trent also helped raise almost a million dollars for fan, Eric De La Cruz, who needed a heart transplant. The breaking point came when people started making inappropriate comments about the money that was raised. Reznor states that one person wrote, “someone got balls at last! Hey, can I have some of that Eric money? The dude’s dead, he doesn’t need it lol.”
All comments about Eric also appeared on the WeLoveEric website, and so Reznor had to console Eric’s sister, Veronica after she saw some of the cruel messages. He was ashamed that, because of him, someone had caused Eric’s family pain and suffering. After that incident, without even saying goodbye, Reznor deleted his Twitter account.
