Canadian pop singer, Avril Lavigne, plans to go acoustic for her upcoming fourth studio album. It is expected that the record will be released this November. See pics and a live, acoustic performance here.
The new album remains un-titled to date, but the singer says that it will mainly be acoustical with her vocals. She describes the songs to be more about feelings and emotions rather than pop or rock songs.
Lavigne works on the new album with her family and close friends. Her husband, Sum 41 front man Deryck Whibley, helped to produce the new album. It is expected to have a total of twelve tracks, eight of which Whibley produced. Lavigne reports that she wrote six of the songs herself. The other six were written with former band member, Evan Taubenfield, and Butch Walker, who helped her write “My Happen Ending” in 2004.
While the first single off the new album is not confirmed, rumor has it that it could wind up being a song that was written for her new fragrance, “Black Star”. The perfume is expected to be released in Fall 2009.
Other than working on the new album and perfume, Avril has been keeping busy with her clothing line, Abbey Dawn, which sells in the U.S. at Kohl’s. She is expecting to launch the line in Canada this summer, and hopes to take it to Europe and Japan as well. Lavigne will also be touring after the album is released.
