Meet Harriet (a.k.a Betsy) Smittle, an older sister of country singer legend, Garth Brooks, who also used to perform in his band, Santa Fe, from 1989 – 1995. Due to an alleged recent mental breakdown, she wound up landing in the hospital for a couple weeks. See the full report, as well as Garth Brooks photos, video here.
Betsy Smittle was seen running around the neighborhood in the nude. It has been reported that she got a bit flustered after a tiff with her lesbian lover. Neighbors, who were afraid that Smittle was suicidal, called the cops. The police did not consider Betsy a threat to herself or anyone else, so no arrest was made.
Upon hearing of the incident, Brooks headed over to his big sis’ house to help her, and decided that she needed to be treated at a hospital. Apparently, she was on medication for bipolar disorder, and had missed a dose or two that day. She was released after 2 weeks.
Brooks, the youngest of six children, was born and raised in Oklahoma. He originally aspired to have a career in sports, but realized that it wasn’t meant to be around 1984. His music career started in 1985, when he joined a band called Santa Fe as the lead singer. He signed his first record deal with Capitol Records in 1989, and his music career took off! Since then, he has made 9 studio albums, and has won numerous awards including: 2 Grammys, 17 American Music Awards, 10 People’s Choice Awards, and 24 Billboard Music Awards.
