The Jeremih Birthday Sex video is in support of the lead single of Jeremih’s forthcoming self-titled debut album which will be released on June 30, 2009 by Def Jam Recordings.

Birthday Sex lyrics and music were written by the 21-year-old R&B artist and the track was produced by Mick Schultz who produced the album in its entirety. The single has topped the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and is No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Jeremih Birthday Sex video features the singer celebrating the birthday of the co-starring love interest.

Jeremih (real name Jeremy Felton) is the cousin of Willie Taylor, a member of the R&B boy band Day26. In an interview with Billboard, he discussed the debut single.

The song “is actually based on a birthday story of mine… “You’d think someone would’ve written a song like that already—one that caters to females on their day. It’s the perfect hit.”

The interview also reveals that the singer-songwriter was previously a multi-instrumentalist (drums, piano, bass and saxophone) who only took up singing three years ago.

“It wasn’t until I performed a song I’d written before an audience in college that I realized I could even do it,” Jeremih says. “The feedback made me feel like a star.”
