Here is the Kara DioGuardi on The View video. See the video and photos of the American Idol judge and songwriter’s interview on the popular U.S. daytime talk show, ABC The View broadcast on May 29, 2009.
In her post-season 8 American Idol appearance, and her first season as judge on the program, Kara DioGuardi on The View discusses a range of hot topics, offering her views on runner up Adam Lambert’s sexual orientation, the alleged American Idol voting controversy dubbed Text-Gate, her songwriting career and why she never pursued a career as a pop star and much more. She was interviewed by all of the The View cohosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselback, and Sherri Sheppard.
The runner up Adam Lambert has been asked in numerous media interviews about his sexuality, and he has declined to give a definitive answer. It is a subject that has dogged the 27-year-old singer who has 17 years of experience in musical theater and is known for his Glambert image of guyliner and black nail polish as much as for his tremendous talent, vocal virtuosity and star quality.
Kara DioGuardi on The View offered her perspective on the subject in response to a question from Barbara Walters as to whether the perceived sexual orientation of Adam Lambert might have influenced the voting voters, she said: “Well, first of all, I hope not … because we should be judging on talent and viability in the music industry.’ She went on to say that both the American Idol winner Kris Allen and Adam Lambert had that.
Continuing her response, she said: “I don’t think that Adam was ever in [the closet.] I think he was always openly out.”
Following up, Barbara Walters asked her to clarify whether she thought Adam Lambert was always out of the closet, as that did not seem to be the public perception, to which Kara DioGuardi replied, “I think he was. I mean, from what I’ve seen … I do. I never thought he wasn’t.’
The Kara DioGuardi on The View video reveals other topics discussed, including her songwriting career. She has written songs for top music artists including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Leona Lewis, Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Pink, and Miley Cyrus among others. She co-wrote the season 8 American Idol coronation song No Boundaries and, as such, is the lead single of the debut album of winner Kris Allen.
After her memorable appearance on the American Idol season 8 finale alongside Bikini Girl Katrina Darrell she displayed a powerhouse voice which sparked questions as to why she pursued singing as a career. (Further evidence of her singing ability is seen here, in an audio and print interview in which she demonstrates the importance of song choice.)
Not least she also addressed the American Idol voting controversy and Text-Gate in the interview.
