Clay Aiken is back in the spotlight again after a public dig at Idol runner-up Adam Lambert. Read more and see photos and video here.
After nasty criticism dished out by Clay Aiken to Idol runner-up Adam Lambert, Aiken took to his official website to apologize.
Not only was Aiken turned off by Lambert’s competition performance of “Ring of Fire”, he publicly dished out his thoughts on his blog, calling Lambert’s performance “contrived, awful and slightly frightening!”
While Aiken is entitled to his opinion, he should have known there would be offense taken by Lambert’s fans. Clay writes,
“Who knew I had so much influence and that my words and opinion mattered so much to so many people!? I hope no one actually believed that blood truly poured forth from my ears when I heard [Lambert sing]…He does what he does, because he enjoys it, and he obviously has many fans who enjoy it as well. I do apologize to Adam for my colorful (and negative) choice of words. I hope he can forgive me. I imagine he doesn’t give a damn!”
Influence, maybe…but hurting Adam’s feelings? I highly doubt it.

Adam has a huge fan base throughout the world. And yes we are very protective of him so watch your choice of words. For you to make such a harsh comment based on one peformance is stupid. Adam will be a super star. What about you Clay?

The whole world knows that Aiken just used Adam Lambert’s name for his own gain. What better can he do but ride on Adam’s fame when everybody knows that his career is going down the drain and that only the Claymates are the only ones supporting him at this time.
And for him to say that Adam’s Ring of Fire irritated his senses is absurd and ridiculous. It’s practically that song that struck him and made him a big fat fan of Lambert!

Let’s face it, Adam Lamberts shrill rendition of just about any song gets old after the first time you hear it. At first you say wow and then after that you say “he makes my ears hurt (or bleed).
When Adam grows up a bit more, he may indeed be great but for now he is just someone with an amazing range that screeches like an owl in the night more often than he sounds good to the ears.

What a dumb career move, CLAY!!! Whatsamatterwidchu? Talk about spitting in the wind!!! HOLY COW, don’t you realize that ADAM LAMBERT is the coming SUPER STAR of this planet?! He deserves to be. He has the talent. He has the guts and the artistic eye and he’s NICE. HE would never say anything like this IN PUBLIC about anyone even you. Buh bye Clay.

Admittedly, you should apologize. That was extremely low class behavior, especially for a parent. As for your influence on other people…. NOT!! Adam has more class in his pinkie. Shame.

To Clay: Well, I live in the other end of the world. and people here have heard of adam and are crazy about his music. as for you, i did not know you till you made those shrill insecurity-ridden comments. there are many ways one can steal some spotlight..i suppose yours is one.

Shame on you Clay! Those of us who live in glass houses… Well you know the rest. You would think that you would use your 15 minutes of fame a little more wisely. Have some class!

Clay has a wonderful voice, but it’s a shame he chooses to sing awful music that nobody wants to hear. I voted for Clay over 300 times and then he says that America got it right when they picked Reuben. Now I’m glad that Clay lost A.I. My opinion of Clay has now gone down the drain. I am really disappointed in his awful attitude - obviously Clay has a big ego now and I’m not sure why. His comments about Adam came across as bitter and lame. Adam really is a great entertainer and I can’t wait to see what he does next.

Adam has an excellent voice and an amazing career ahead of him. For people to say that Adam just howls or screams is ridiculous. That’s like saying that Mariah Carey only screams when she hits those high notes every single song she has ever had. Everyone knows how many MILLIONS of fans and huge success she has. Adam will be one of the “Greats”!!! No one ever in AI history can compare to him. He is unique and will probably surpass all of the Idols.

That 15-minute clock is ticking for Clay. How boorish of him. Clay, I don’t know if it was jealousy or just mean-spiritedness that caused you to make those comments. You may not have offended Adam, who has shown more grace, humility and talent than you will ever have, but you offended Adam’s fans and I’m betting a lot of Idol fans in general. I, for sure, am no longer a fan of yours, and I suspect you will lose more fans over this. Your apology wasn’t even sincere. You didn’t take back anything you said. You just apologized that the comments got out. Adam, we can’t wait to hear new music from you. Clay, all I have to say now is … Clay who?
