This Carrie Underwood American Idol appearance is her second on season 8; previously she performed ‘I Told You So’ as a duet with Randy Travis on Grand Ole Opry week.
Carrie Underwood is the American Idol season 4 winner. The 26-year-old country music singer-songwriter has had a stellar career with four Grammy Awards and two multi-platinum albums.
In her previous appearance, she expressed excitement of returning to “where it all began,” and noting that Simon Cowell had been one of her fans for a long time. The most recent castoff and sentimental favorite, Danny Gokey, previously sang one of her hit singles, ‘Jesus Take the Wheel’ during the competition.
This time, as the Carrie Underwood American Idol video reveals, she sings a cover of the 1985 Motley Crue Home Sweet Home, which has been the season 8 elimination song, also known as the farewell song.
It was originally a single from Theatre of Pain, the glam rock band’s multi-platinum selling third studio album. Motley Crue Home Sweet Home lyrics and music are by band members Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and Vince Neil. The Carrie Underwood Home Sweet Home cover was released as a single on iTunes and topped the chart. It debuted at No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at No. 52 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
A portion of the profits from the iTune sales will be donated to the Humane Society of the United States, to fund programs that provide puppy-mill rescues, companion animals, and spaying and neutering services.
