The 27-year-old pop star and first season American Idol winner recently released her fourth studio album, ‘All I Ever Wanted,’ which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. To date, with sales of more than 10 million albums in the U.S., Kelly Clarkson has had the most commercial success of any American Idol.
The Kelly Clarkson Ellen DeGeneres video reveals spirited performances of two of the pop singer’s hits. I Do Not Hook Up is the second single from ‘All I Ever Wanted,’ which also produced the chart topping lead single ‘My Life Would Suck without You.’ Since U Been Gone is one of Kelly Clarkson’s signature hits and is from her sophomore solo studio album, Breakaway; it was written and produced by Max Martin and Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald.
During her interview with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, Kelly Clarkson praised her experience with American Idol, noting that the program offers artist development which record labels don’t have anymore.
She said she had a chance to meet all of the season 8 American Idols during her recent appearance on the program and singled out Idol castoffs Megan Joy and Allison Iraheta for particular praise.
The singer also jokes improvising lyrics when she does not know them. She said she had made many bloopers on stage and said that there exist a Kelly Clarkson bloopers video.
The I Do Not Hook Up lyrics and song were written by Greg Wells, along with pop star Katy Perry, and Grammy winning song writer Kara DioGuardi known to the public as the new judge on American Idol. The track was produced by Howard Benson. The music video, shot by veteran director Bryan Barber has recently had its premiere.
