Amy Winehouse attempted comeback number three hundred and fifty this weekend in St. Lucia, but unfortunately she did not win her fans back. Read more, see photos and view video of her comeback performance here.
Just when you think Amy Winehouse may be on the right track to career revival, she proves she still has not conquered all of her demons. While she may be working on a brand new album in her second home of St. Lucia, to get back on stage was probably not the wisest decision.
On Friday, the “Rehab” songstress played her very first concert of the year and quite frankly, the performance was disastrous. Apparently the show was cut short after Winehouse complained that the weather was bad. Attendees booed as Amy wandered the stage aimlessly, did a little dance, sang a few words and exited the stage.
Today a statement was issued by Winehouse’s spokesperson:
“Amy would like to express her disappointment that weather forced the abandonment of her show at the St. Lucia Jazz Festival last night. The set started well, but as the heavens opened, a number of technical difficulties occurred onstage, culminating with the lighting rig failing for two songs. In addition, rain began to flood the technical wings at the side of the stage, which caused sound problems. Amy and the band tried to soldier on, but the set had to be cut short.
“Amy is very disappointed, as St. Lucia has been wonderful to her and its people have welcomed her with open arms, but circumstances beyond anyone’s control meant that this special show did not go as planned.”
Winehouse’s next performance is scheduled for May 31 in London.
