Grammy Award winning R&B and soul singer Seal was interviewed and performed a medley on The Oprah Winfrey Show and video. The London-born soul singer of Nigerian descent, Seal’s most recent album, his sixth studio album, Soul, was released in November 2008. The album is comprised of covers of eleven classic soul hits and was produced by David Foster. The album’s lead single is Seal’s cover of the iconic Sam Cooke ‘A Change Is Gonna Come.’

Oprah Winfrey said her impetus for getting the soul singer on her show was that in hearing him sing one of the classic hits from the album, ‘Soul’ she got so involved in the music while driving that she missed her turn and drove into an embankment.

The Seal Oprah video reveals the singer delivering a crowd pleasing medley of hits from the Soul album, including ‘Knock on Wood,’ and ‘It’s a Man’s World.’

In the interview with Oprah Winfrey, Soul said that he had grown up with those songs, and said that at one point, he felt he may have ‘bitten off more than he could chew’ in covering the songs, as they are so closely associated with the original singer. He acknowledged the efforts of producer David Foster’s work on the album in bringing it to fruition. (Seal discussed the album in more detail in a recent interview which you can read here.)

During the interview, Seal ended speculation by declaring in the interview that he and his wife are expecting a girl. Heidi Klum pregnant rumors had surfaced just a few weeks ago and Seal himself confirmed the rumors during a live concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

The couple has three children, all boys, and so this will be their first daughter. The oldest son, Leni, 5, is the child Heidi Klum had with Italian businessman Flavio Briatore. The other two children are the biological children of Seal and Heidi Klum; Henry, 3, and Johan, 2.

Seal’s wife Heidi Klum said, in a separate interview, with USMagazine:

“We’d be happy with either. But it would be a lie if I said we all weren’t hoping for a little girl — especially Leni, because she would love to have a little sister.

In the Seal Oprah video interview, the soul singer also said that he and Heidi Klum are going to get married again.

He said, ‘So this is going to be the fourth time, our fourth anniversary. The fifth time, and I’m not quite sure what the theme is…You know what my wife’s like. She’s always got some trick up her sleeve, but it’s going to be a good get-together, you know, lots of friends.’

Seal was referencing the previous times he and his wife have married. Their first wedding took place on a beach in Mexico on May 10, 2005 and the couple has made a tradition of getting married again on each anniversary.
