Barenaked Ladies have announced plans to release a new album. The group is moving on with a positive attitude after losing Steve Page. They plan to hit the recording studio this coming April! Get the rest of the details on their upcoming plans and see photos and video after the jump.

The Barenaked Ladies are heading back into the recording studio this April to produce a new album, minus their frontman Steve Page. Something Ed Robertson calls “a really positive thing for all of us. The four remaining members will continue on with their love of music. Recently speaking out about the band’s loss, Ed Robertson said:

“The new songs we are writing are great. There still four writers and four singers and four multi-instrumentalists in the Barenaked Ladies, so there’s a lot to draw on going forward,” said Barenaked Ladies’ Ed Robertson.

The group has also been reassuring their fans that the four plan to stay intact and that they’ll make it through. So Barenaked Ladies fans look for the group’s new album due out sometime this Fall. They also have plans to schedule some upcoming performances in support of the new album. We’ll keep you posted!

Lady Sovereign’s new video for So Humanhas been released for all to hear. The song comes off of the twenty four year old’s album titled Jigsaw. The album was slated for release last spring but plans have changed and now the rapper’s second studio album will officially be available to her fans on April 16th.

So Human, I Got You Dancing (an early Christmas present for her patient fans) and the rest of the album will be delivered through Lady Sovereign’s independent record label called Midget Records. The artist opted to forgo the hassle of dealing with a major music label in order to maintain her freedom and unique style. Check out the So Human video after the jump and tell us what you think?

The Black Eyed Peas has dropped their new single called Boom Boom Pow. The song comes off of their upcoming album called The END. Listen to Boom Boom Pow below with photos of Fergie and the group after the jump.

The Black Eyed Peas first single, Boom Boom Pow has been released. The new song is in support of their forthcoming studio album titled The END, meaning The Energy Never Dies. Will.i.am spoke out about the group’s efforts after a four year haitus saying:

“When [the album] comes out, there’ll be 12 songs on it, but the next day there could be 100 songs, 50 sketches, 1,000 blogs all around The E.N.D., so the energy really, truly never dies.”

“I’m trying to break away from the concept of an album. What is an album when you put 12 songs on iTunes and people can pick at it like scabs? That’s not an album. There is no album anymore.”

Boom Boom Pow is just a taste of what you can expect to hear on their latest twelve track disc along with “a lot of dance stuff, real melodic, electronic, soulful. We call it, like, electric static funk, something like that.” The END is scheduled to hit shelves on June 9th via Interscope Records.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have released their new song Heads Will Roll. Listen to Heads Will Roll below with videos and photos after the jump.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have dropped theirsecond single from their upcoming album titled It’s Blitz!. The group’s ambition for their new album was to create a more “dance driven” collection of songs. Set to be released on April 13, 2009 the New York based indie band will “still sound like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs”.

Heads Will Roll and the other nine tracks on It’s Blitz! was produced by Dave Sitek and Nick Launay.
Their first single, just recently released, is called Zero and can be heard on the band’s website and their MySpace page. You can listen to it here.

Pete Doherty’s new music video for Last of the English Roses has hit the net. Check out the English rocker’s video for his lead single after the jump with photos.

Pete Doherty’s Last of the English Roses Video has been released. The BabyShambles rocker’s song comes off of his first studio solo album titled Grace/Wastelands. The album is set for release on March 16.

Pete Doherty’s album was produced by Stephen Street. The artist’s band members from Babyshambles, Mik Whitnall, Adam Ficek and Drew McConnell are also on the new solo album as well as the Blur’s guitarist Graham Coxon. Pete Doherty said he wasn’t sure “how Graham ended up on the album… Seeing as I’m lucid and being quite honest I’ll just say he’s an amazing fella. I was forced to push myself as a musician.”

The Last of the English Roses and the other tracks were recorded at the Olympic Studios in London. Do you think it will be any good? So far things aren’t looking up for the troubled rocker’s solo efforts. Playbackstl.com has dubbed his attempts a “CD your mom is destined to like”. Doesn’t sound too promising.

Here is the Peter Gabriel Academy Award nominated song. ‘Down to Earth’ from Disney’s Wall-E movie soundtrack. See video, lyrics and photos here.

Peter Gabriel is the vocalist, songwriter and producer of the song which features The Soweto Gospel Choir. He composed the music with Thomas Newman.

The song plays during the end credits of the Disney’s Wall-E, a computer animated movie written and directed by Andrew Stanton and produced by Pixar Animation Studio, with voice actors Fred Willard, Jeff Garlin, John Ratzenberger, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Burtt, and Elissa Knight. The movie is set in the 29th century and chronicles the story of the title character, a trash-compacting robot designed to clean up the toxic waste covering the Planet Earth of that era. He falls in love with another robot named EVE, and eventually follows her into outer space.

The movie was released in theaters in June 2008 to box office success and critical acclaim. It won the 2009 Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, and it is nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature.

‘Down to Earth’ is one of three contenders for the 2009 Best Song Oscar, competing against ‘Jai Ho’
and ‘O Saya,’ both from ‘Slumdog Millionaire.’ It won the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Song from a Motion Picture and is heavily favored to win the Academy Award.

Peter Gabriel will not be performing at the 81st Academy Awards, as he is protesting the restrictions the show’s producers have put in place which would allow him to perform only 65 seconds of the song as part of a medley.

“We were originally hoping to perform. We’d assumed, as there are only three nominees, that the songs would be performed in full. But the producers came in to revamp it as audience figures were falling off,” Gabriel said in a video on his Website, “So I’ve now decided to withdraw from the ceremony, but I’ll still go along. I do think it’s a bit unfortunate. I do think songwriters, even though they’re a small part of the filmmaking process… we still work bloody hard and I think deserve a place in the ceremony as well.”

Peter Gabriel began his music career as frontman and songwriter for the British -rock band Genesis, embarking on a solo career in the mid-1970s. In additional to achieving commercial success he is a long-time advocate of world music with his World of Music, Arts, and Dance (WOMAD) Festival which spotlights the work of performers from around the world. He released Hit, a compilation of greatest hits in released in 2003. In recent years he has recorded songs for numerous movie soundtracks, including the Oscar-nominated “Down to Earth” for Disney’s Wall-E.

Mat Kearney has completed work on hs new album City of Black & White. The new album is set for release on May 19th. Get the details below with photos and video of Mat after the jump.

Mat Kearney has a new album on the way titled City of Black & White. The album is scheduled to be released on May 19th through his label Aware/Columbia records and was produced in Nashville. Some of the featured songs on City of Black & White are Here We Go, Closer to Love and Fire and Rain.

The songs were written by Kearney, who now calls Nashville home, while he traveled the country side collecting inspiration from everyday life. Closer To Love is Mat’s first single and will hit the airwaves on March 10th. You can listen to the song here via Mat Kearney’s website.
