Teddy Pendergrass is dead of colon cancer. He died on January 13, 2010 at 59-years-old. Teddy Pendergrass is a Soul music legend that reached the height of his fame in the 1970s and 1980s. The Lord only knows how many children were conceived to the sound of his music. He will be greatly missed.

Teddy Pendergrass was THE sex symbol of the 1970s and 1980s. His passionate love ballads sung in a masculine, soulful voice were the stuff of legend and love. Then, he was paralyzed in a devastating car accident, making him an inspiration as well as a legend. And now he has died after a year long struggle with colon cancer on January 13, 2010 at the age of 59-years. His son, Teddy Pendergrass, II has confirmed that his father died in a suburban Philadelphia hospital. He endured surgery for colon cancer about eight months ago but has had a difficult time recovering from the surgery.

Singer, Song-writer Vic Chesnutt is dead after an overdose and coma. He died in a hospital in Athens, Georgia after being in a coma that was apparently caused by an overdose on muscle relaxants.

Vic Chestnutt has had several suicide attempts in the past. In his most recent album, At the Cut released in 2009, he sang about suicide, Flirted With You All My Life. In that song, he sang about suicide as a lover he must break up with. Apparently he didn’t.

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher engaged! Apparently the stud NHL player put a ring on it and the two are getting married. Read about it below and check out the photos and a video about the couple.

Ottawa Senators hockey player announced that he is engaged to County music superstar Carrie Underwood. He made the announcement earlier today just before tonight’s Senators game against the Boston Bruins at Scoriabank Place. He is said to have asked her to marry him on Sunday, December 20, 2009 and she said yes. Underwood’s spokesperson, Jessie Schmidt, confirmed the engagement and said that a wedding date hasn’t been set.

Will it come as a huge surprise to anyone to find out that Asher Roth is gay. He may be an unlikely rap star, but it doesn’t seem so unlikely that he might be gay. There are reports that he’s going to reveal that he’s homosexual when he appears on E! News this week. The interview is rumored to include him discussing why he decided to come out of the closet and his since of fulfillment since he decided to move to a ‘gay section’ of New York City.

The Argentina opera star was reportedly talking very loudly on her cellular phone and so was her daughter. Patrons complained. The manager complained. She reportedly pushed the manager and the rest is history like a great operatic tragedy gone wild.

Band member of Blink-182 announced at Sunday night’s Grammys that the band is back together. Read about it below and see photos and a video of their announcement.

Blink-182 hasn’t put out an album since their 2003 blink-182 and they haven’t been together since they took a hiatus in February 2005. Tom DeLonge went on from there to form Angels & Airwaves. Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker went on to form +44. Then, in September 2008, Barker was almost killed in a plane crash. After that, the three original band members started talking again.

At the 2009 Grammys, the three musicians announced Blink 182 is back together.

Emerging to sounds of their 1999 hit “What’s My Age Again,” bassist Mark Hoppus, drummer Travis Barker — wearing a sling on his injured left arm — and estranged guitarist Tom DeLonge walked out together, with Hoppus joking, “Isn’t it great to see the Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder back together again?” after the unlikely pairing performed a medley of the Bros’ “Burning Up” and Wonder’s “Superstition.” Barker added, “We used to play music together, and we decided we’re going to play music together again,” as DeLonge stood awkwardly to the side. Hoppus also yelled, “Blink-182 is back!”

After the Grammys, they released a statement:

“Hi. We’re blink-182. This past week there’ve been a lot of questions about the current status of the band, and we wanted you to hear it straight from us. To put it simply, We’re back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy.”

The band leave things with the words “Summer 2009. Thanks and get ready…”

The Grammy Awards full of drama this year. Both Rihanna and Chris Brown canceled their appearances at the last moment and news started circulating that Brown had been arrested for domestic assault. Read about it below and see photos and a video of the couple.

In the early morning hours of Sunday morning, February 8, 2009, police were called to the scene of a vehicle in which a man and woman had gotten into an argument that resulted in Chris Brown assault on the woman. When police arrived, they were told the man was Chris Brown and that he had fled the scene of the incident. The woman told police they had started arguing and it had turned violent. The police reported that the woman had visible injuries. The police put out a warrant to arrest Brown for domestic violence.

Police would not identify the woman, although there is speculation and some evidence that Rihanna was the visibly injured woman.

By evening, Chris Brown had turned himself in, been booked, posted $50,000 bail and been released. He is charged with one count of criminal threats. We don’t have the Chris Brown mugshot yet. Here is a video of his arrest.

Both Brown and Rihanna were scheduled to perform at the 2009 Grammys and both canceled their appearances at the last minute. Both were also up for Grammys. Rihanna was nominated in three categories including Best Dance Recording for ‘Disturbia’. Brown received two nominations, including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for ‘Take You Down.’

Justin Timberlake and Al Green stepped in to replace the fighting lovers. They did a duet, ‘Let’s Stay Together’.

The incident happened shortly after the Grammy party show featured in the video below.

Beyonce released two music videos on Tuesday, Halo and Diva. Both are from her latest solo studio album, I Am … Sasha Fierce. The album was released in November 2008.

The video was shot in downtown Los Angeles about a month ago. Its directed by Melina Matsoukas.

Beyonce has released Halo from her third solo album. Read about it and see photos, the official video and the lyrics here.

Beyonce Knowles released two music videos from her third solo studio album, I Am … Sasha Fierce, that was released in November 2008. Halo is her third video from that album. She also released the Diva music video today from the same album.

The song was written by Ryan Tedder and originally offered to Leona Lewis. Beyonce ended up doing the song when Lewis didn’t have time to record it. The video is directed by Philip Andelman. Michael Ealy stars as her love interest in the video.

Kanye West was less than a hit with his attempt to sing more than rap during his latest SNL appearance. He sang Love Lockdown, read about it and see photos and the video of his performance here.

So what did you think of Kanye West’s appearance on Saturday Night Live the other night? He did what others before him have attempted to do, he tried to change his genre in front of a huge television audience. It was less than successful.

West didn’t seem to feel the same way as his critics about his vocals. He posted the video on his blog and his supporters say that the Love Lockdown performance was ‘hands down the greatest ‘SNL’ performance of all time’.

People were so outraged to think that the magnificent Kanye West would put in such a really, really, bad performance, that accusations he was lip-synching rather than it was really him singing live. I fail to see how that makes people feel better about the whole thing. Would you really rather think that he lip-synched a bad performance than that he actually had trouble singing live? Or that he should stick with rap rather than singing? I mean, that would mean that he chose that performance over his own voice.
